Computing resources and how to access them
Walk up computers
The Illini Union and Grainger Engineering Library have walk up computers available on the Illinois network. Grainger is one block west of ESB and the Illini Union is two blocks west of Loomis Lab. The Physics and Astronomy Library, in 204 Loomis Lab, has limited-time use computers available, also.
Guest Accounts
To login to the campus network with your computer and to use some University resources, you will need a guest account. Usually the ICMT staff can have an account ready for you when you arrive, however, if necessary, any Illinois faculty, staff member, or student can create a limited number of guest accounts.
Access
Wireless is available in public places in Loomis, MRL, and ESB. Plug in access for laptops is available in the Physics and Astronomy Library in 204 Loomis Lab. More detailed information is available for Loomis, MRL, and ESB, the Illini Union, and all other campus buildings. If you have been assigned an office, it should have network access.
Public Wireless
Only a few locations have public wireless; they include Krannert Center for the Performing Arts (one block south of Loomis) and Willard Airport.
